  • What is a bioethanol fireplace?

    A bioethanol fireplace produces real flames by burning bioethanol fuel. It’s a clean-burning, plant-based fuel that releases only water vapour and a small amount of carbon dioxide (similar to lighting a couple of tealight candles). Because they don’t produce smoke, you don’t need a chimney or flue to use one. Simply add your fuel to the fuel box, light it, and adjust the flame with the slider. It’s an easy way to enjoy the warmth and atmosphere of a real fire, without the installation or upkeep of a traditional woodburner or gas fire.

  • Do bioethanol fireplaces produce real heat?

    Yes. Bioethanol fireplaces produce around 2kW of heat, which is similar to an electric heater on a medium setting. This makes them an excellent supplementary heat source for a small to medium-sized room. They’re not designed to be a replacement for your central heating, but they will help heat your room on a cool evening – without the smoke, mess or cost of a traditional fire.

  • Do bioethanol fireplaces need a chimney?

    No. Bioethanol fuel burns clearly, producing only water vapour and a small amount of carbon dioxide (similar to lighting a couple of tealight candles). They don’t produce any smoke, so there’s no need for a chimney or flue. Simply unpack your fireplace, position it where you want it, and light.

  • Do bioethanol fireplaces smell?

    Bioethanol fuel doesn’t release any smoke, so there’s no telltale smoky smell left in the room after lighting – unlike with traditional woodburners. You may notice a faint scent upon lighting your stove, but this quickly fades into the background once the fire is burning steadily. Choose our low-odour fuel to keep your home smelling fresh.

  • Are bioethanol fireplaces safe to use indoors?

    Yes, bioethanol fireplaces are completely safe to use indoors as long as you follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Our fireplaces are independently tested to BS EN 16647 and feature a patented ‘no-spill’ fuel box (GB2555760) to prevent spills even when knocked. Make sure you use it in a properly ventilated room and treat it with the same care as you would any other open flame.

How to choose the right bioethanol fireplace

Bring the beauty of real flames into your home with our bioethanol fireplaces. You don’t need a chimney, flue or gas connection to install one – simply unpack, place into position, and light. Here's what to weigh up when choosing your model.

Room size & heat output

Each of our bioethanol fireplaces produces around 2kW of heat, making them ideal for heating small to medium-sized living rooms, dining spaces, and snugs. Taller models are better for larger, open-plan spaces with high ceilings, while compact designs suit smaller rooms.

Indoor or outdoor

Most of our fires are approved for both. Bioethanol burns cleanly with no smoke, making it ideal for indoor use in smoke control areas, flats, rental properties, and new builds. If you’d like to use it outdoors too, choose a model with a sheltered fuel box to keep it protected from the weather.

Wall, freestanding or stove

There are several types of bioethanol fires to choose from. Wall-mounted fires save floor space and are ideal for media wall setups. Freestanding fires can be easily moved from room to room. Stove-style models give you that traditional log-burner look, with no chimney needed.

Safety & certifications
