Imagin biofuel fireplaces are real fires, so you need to treat them with the same level of care as any open fire source. We strongly advise you to read the manual supplied with your Biofires. Please contact us if you need another copy and we'd be pleased to supply. If you want further advice on remaining safe aroud a Biofire, you can read our more detailed article "How to safely use a Biofire".
Typically, a litre of biofuel will burn for around 3 hours or so, but this varies according to how fully open you have the aperture on the steel burner box. If its opened fully, then fuel will be used at a faster rate than when it is only half opened. Also, larger bio fires (with larger steel burner boxes) will burn the biofuel at a faster rate than smaller bioethanol fireplaces. If used outdoors, then any wind will tend to make the fuel burn faster.
This really depends on few points. The first one is that it really depends on the situation in which you are using the biofuel fireplace. For example, using a biofuel fireplace outside where there may be wind, will use the fuel more quickly than indoors where there is no wind. If using indoors, our fires will warm a 25 square metre room as a secondary heat source. This means, that whereas it wouldn't be sufficient in extremely cold winter temperatures, it would be very effective in most typical autumn and winter days. The way that our customers typically use the biofuel fireplaces varies a lot, but for example, everyone tells us how great they are on those days when you don't want to heat the whole house , for whatever reason, but just want a lovely real flame in a particular room (dinner party, friends gathering or other social occasion) for a few evenings a week.
Biofuel is a class 3 flammable liquid that is made up of bioethanol, a form of alcohol which is produced by the fermentation of sugars that originate from agricultural and forestry products such as wheat and potatoes. It burns virtually "clean" with no smoke, hence no need for a chimney or flue, although we do recommend that the room in which the fire is used is well ventilated (ie. don't use in any small rooms or those without natural ventilation.) We also recommend that you use only high quality bioethanol fuels that have at least 96.6% alcohol. Biofuel is also widely considered to be a more environmentally friendly fuel than many alternatives, such as fossil fuels.
Many people claim that biofuel is odourless, but many years of experience and customer feedback tells us that there is actually a mild but not unpleasant odour when burning The precise odour varies from batch to batch of bioethanol but some customers say its the same degree as having a few candles burning, whilst we've even had some customers say its more like a mild coconnut smell.
No, the biofuel burns without any smoke.
The burner boxes in our Bioethanol Fireplaces do vary in size and type, but they are all easy to set up and use. One of our newest burners is shown here (supplied with the latest design of the Globus and Oblosk biethanol fireplace). Simply have part D as the base, then place part C on top of D. Put part B against one of the longest edges of C. Place part A so that it is against the opposite edge of C. Biofuel can then be poured into the opening in C and light using an extended taper or match. The flame can then be reduced in size (by using the tool supplied), by sliding part A part towards part B. The flame can be extinguished fully by sliding A fully towards B.

You can buy this at very competitive prices from our website here. Please only use high quality biofuels with at least 96.6% alcohol. Never use any other fuels.
Simply decant some biofuel into the reservoir (using either a funnel or the built in tap included on some biofuel containers) then light with a taper or extended lighter. Never use any matches. If you have bought our Bio fuel, then it comes in a squeezy bottle, so there's no need to decant it first....just gently squeeze direct into the silver burner box.
The burner box have shutters that can be closed to shut off the flame. Always use the supplied tools to do this. Never use your hands or any part of your body to do this as the burner box will be very hot. Do not move the bio fire until the steel burner box has cooled.
As many of our biofuel fireplaces require absolutely no installation, these can easily move to different rooms or different locations of same room. You can experiment as many times as you like. They are not fixed to one location!. Of course, there are some that are wall mounted. These are less easy to move! Whichever room you decide to locate the bio fire, please ensure that the room is well ventilated.
You can use your Imaginfire biofuel fireplace almost anywhere! For our wall mounted bio fires, just like any fire, you need sufficient wall space with no flammable materials such as soft fabrics , curtains etc within at least a metre. The free standing bio fires can be used indoors and outdoors but please be mindful that any strong winds will blow the flame in random directions. Also bear in mind that the bio fire is a real flame, so it needs to be positioned in a place where it will not be knocked over. Knocking the bioethanol fire over is extremely dangerous since it is a real flame. Always ensure that the free standing fires are placed on a smooth, even, flat surface. Never move the biofuel fireplace whilst lit or with any biofuel inside the burner box. Always ensure that the unit has cooled completely before moving it. Always ensure that any room you choose to use the bio fire in is well ventilated.
It's very simple! Instructions and fittings will be supplied and the exact process depends on what type of wall you want to fit the fire to. However for most brick and plaster walls, you will just need to drill the wall to take the rawl plug supplied and then screw in the brackets supplied. The walls on which the Bioethanol is attached can also become very warm, and so young children should not be allowed to touch the walls around this area. If your wall mounted Bioethanol Fireplace does not have a top section / roof over the fire (e.g the Alden Bio Fire), then we suggest you leave an additional gap of at least 60cm gap around the sides of the Biofire. This area can be reduced to around 30 cm for biofires with a 'roof' over the fire, e.g the Fuego models.
After 10 minutes your fire will be burning nicely. At first the flame will burn in a blue colour but will quickly turn into a yellow/ orange flame.
Your Bioethanol Fireplace is usually delivered within 2 to 3 days from receipt of order. Please contact us (support@imagnfires.com) if you have not received your Biofire within 4 days of order. Sorry but we cannot deliver on weekends. We use a nationwide couriers 'signed for' service. Although we are unable to offer a tracking service, our courier will always leave a "sorry we missed you' card to either re-arrange a delivery to your home, or collect your Bioire from a nearby depot.
Although the heat from a biofuel fire is great to heat rooms , its not strong enough to damage a Flat Screen TV positioned above them. Nevertheless, we would recommend that you only place a TV above a biofuel fireplace that has a closed top, and leave at least 18 inches between the top of the fire and the bottom of the TV.
There is a very small amount of carbon dioxide emitted by burning any biofuel. However this is well within permitted limits and is as low as using a few household candles or tea lights. It is still always advisable to have some ventilation in the room that you are using the Biofire to ensure that there is sufficent oxygen in the room, particlaly if you are planning to use the Biofire in a very small room. Ventilation could be a small window slightly open, or from time to time letting fresh air inside the room.
This is extremely dangerous, so never pour any fuel on top of a flame/ existing fire. Always allow the existing flame to be extinguished fully and the burner box cooled before adding any more bio fuel.
Clean up any split fuel before you light the biofuel in the fire. Ensure the spill area and surrounding area are completely free of any spillages and the area of spillage is completely dry. Ensure that you only pour biofuel into the correct parrt of the steel burner box. Take care also not to spill biofuel down any side gaps of the burner box . If this happens, then this fuel may also light and flames could come from the side gaps of the burner box.
We suggest that you test any cleaning liquids on a part of the fire that is least visible. However, just some ordinary hot water and washing up liquid will suffice for the majority of cleaning needs. For the stainless steel burner box, you can also use most stainless steel cleaners on the burner. It takes just a few minutes to get the burner box looking almost as bright as the day you 1st bought it. Make sure the cleaned burner box is completely dry before use.
To reduce the flame size on most biofuel fireplaces, you can simply slide the cover on the burner box over the opening as much as you require.
As the biofuel is very flammable, always keep it away from any fire source, and always out of reach of children, pets or animals. Never dispose of bioethanol in your household drains. Please dispose of according to the local council guidelines. Note that any unused fuel left in the burner will evaporate as it is an alcohol based product.
A ventless biofuel fireplace is simply a fireplace that does not require a chimney, flue or any other venting duct. If you have a biofuel fireplace and some biofuel, then you have all you need to create a beautiful looking fire. Since no flue or chimney is needed, its much easier to install than a more traditional gas or wood fireplace.
Always use the Bio Fire when it is completely dry. If there was remaining fuel in the burner box, which may have become wet with rain, then this should be emptied out before next use. Never pour new Bio fuel on top of remaining fuel that may also have become wet from rain.
Yes. Our range of biofuel fires are suitable for using both gel and liquid bioethanol fuels.
A flueless fireplace is a general term used for any type of fireplace that does not require the use of a flue or chimney. So a biofuel fireplace is just a type of flueless fireplace that uses bio ethanol fuel only. Biofuel fires are also called many other names including biofiire, bioethanol fuel fire and bio fire. These are simply different names of the same product .
Yes, you can use other brands of biofuel or gels, but under no circumstances should any fuels be used in the fire that are not bioethanol. Doing so is extremely dangerous. These bio fires are built specifically for use with bioethanol fire.
Thats great because our biofuel fireplaces are aimed at people who really don't have much time to spare with costly and complex installations. Many of our bioethanol fires require absolutely no installation. You may only need to do some very small final assembly when it arrives, but on most of the fireplaces, this will take just a few minutes. Typically...it may involve just inserting the protective glass into its slot, or putting the burner box inside the housing. Really easy! Just make sure that any room you use the bio fire in is well ventilated.
The ceramic stones that we sell are for decorative purposes only. You must NEVER cover the opening of the steel burner box with these ceramic stones. i.e. you must NEVER put them over the opening of the steel burner box where the flame comes from. We also advise you to remove them when filling the stainless steel burner. This is because you may accidentally spray biofuel over them when filling the burner box so that when the fireplace is lit, the stones also catch fire. Whilst this does no harm to the stones, it does mean that there is a risk that a lit stone could, if knocked, accidentally role out of some fire places and on to the floor.
The amount of bio fuel each bio fire takes will vary according to the model you wish to purchase. The exact capacity of bio fuel is specified on each individual product page, but it varies from around 0.8 litres to 2 litres.
When first used, the flame on some of our bioethanol fireplaces is initially a little smaller but then develops with use. The exact 'growth' of the flame varies considerably according to a number of condtions, including burner box size and positon of biofire etc. However, the more times you use the biofire, the shorter the time taken for the flame to reach its maxmimum height . Some of the burner box sizes are also limited to be within european regulations such as TUV standards.
No. You can put in as much fuel as you think you will need for the duration. Each bio fire has different size steel burner boxes, and all of them have a label indicating the maximum amount of bio fuel to fill the container with. However, you do not need to fill the burner to this point. Of course, the bio fire needs a minimum amount of fuel to be able to create sufficient combustion to start the Biofire flame.
