How long does bioethanol fuel burn for?
Typically, a litre of biofuel will burn for around 3 hours or more. The time varies according to how fully open you have the opening of the steel fuel box. When opened fully, fuel will be used at a faster rate than when it is only half opened. Also, larger bio fires (with larger steel fuel boxes) will burn the biofuel at a faster rate than smaller bioethanol fireplaces, whilst others with a smaller opening may burn for longer. If used outdoors, then any wind will make the fuel burn faster and so shorten the total burn time.
What is bioethanol fuel made of?
Biofuel is a class 3 flammable liquid, it is made up of bioethanol, a form of alcohol which is produced by the fermentation of sugars that originate from agricultural and forestry products such as wheat and potatoes. It burns virtually clean with no smoke, hence no need for a chimney or flue, although we do recommend that the room in which the fire is used is well ventilated (ie. dont use in any small rooms or those without natural ventilation.) We also recommend that you use only high quality bioethanol fuels that have at least 95% alcohol. Biofuel is also widely considered to be a more environmentally friendly fuel than many alternatives, such as fossil fuels. The biofuel sold on our site is specifically for use in our range of bio ethanol fireplaces.
Does bioethanol fuel have any odour?
Many people claim that biofuel is odourless, but many years of experience and customer feedback tells us that there is actually a mild but not unpleasant odour when burning The precise odour varies from batch to batch of bioethanol but some customers say its the same degree as having a few candles burning, whilst we have even had some customers say its more like a mild coconut smell. Sometimes there is an odour as the fuel box needs “bedding in” but this subsides after a few uses. Some of our customers have used a few drops of fragrance oils in a room to combat the aroma before it clears.
Will a bioethanol fireplace trigger my smoke alarm?
Simple answer is NO ! Biofuel burns without any smoke. All bioethanol fireplaces are perfectly safe to use in homes with smoke alarms.
Where can I buy bioethanol fuel?
You can buy this at very competitive prices from our website :
Please only use high quality biofuels with at least 96.6% alcohol. Never use any other types of fuels.
Are there any emissions from a bioethanol fire?
There is a very small amount of carbon dioxide emitted when burning any biofuel. However this is well within permitted limits and is as low as using a few household candles or tea lights. It is still always advisable to have some ventilation in the room that you are using the Bioethanol fire to ensure that there is sufficient oxygen in the room, particularly if you are planning to use the Biofire in a very small room. Ventilation could be a small window slightly open, or from time to time letting fresh air inside the room.
Can I pour bioethanol fuel on top of existing fuel?
NEVER !! This is extremely dangerous, so never pour any fuel on top of a flame/ existing fire. Always allow the existing flame to be extinguished fully and the burner box cooled before adding any more bio fuel.
What should I do if there any biofuel spillages?
You should always ensure the bioethanol fire and surrounding area are free of any spillages and the area is completely dry. Ensure that you only pour biofuel into the correct parrt of the steel fuel box. Take care also not to spill biofuel down any side gaps of the fuel box . If this happens, then this fuel may also light and flames could come from the side gaps of the fuel box. Just use some kitchen towel or similar to clear away any spillages.
How should I store the bioethanol fuel?
As the biofuel is very flammable, always keep it away from any fire source, and always out of reach of children, pets or animals. Never dispose of bioethanol in your household drains. Please dispose of according to the local council guidelines. Note that any unused fuel left in the fuel box will evaporate over time as it is an alcohol based product.
Can I use bioethanol gel with your fireplaces?
Our range of biofuel fires have been designed and tested using bioethanol liquid. We do not recommend the use of gels with any of our fireplaces.
How much fuel does a bioethanol fireplace need?
The amount of bio fuel each bio ethanol fireplace takes will vary from model to model. The exact capacity of bio fuel is specified on each individual product page within our shop, but it varies from around 0.8 litres to 2 litres, with most being around 1.5 litres. Never fill past the MAX level on the fuel box.
How much fuel should I put in the biofire?
You can put in as much fuel as you think you will need for the duration you intend to use it. Each of our bioethanol fires has different size steel fuelboxes, and all of them have a label indicating the maximum amount of bio fuel to fill the container with. However, you do not need to fill the fuel box to this point. Of course, the bioethanol fireplace needs a minimum amount of fuel to be able to create sufficient combustion to start the flame.
Can I add an accelerant to the bioethanol fire?
NO NEVER !! It is extremely dangerous to use any accelerants on your fire. You should only ever use bioethanol fuel inside the fireplace.
Does bio ethanol fuel produce smoke or soot ?

How should i clean up any fuel spillage ?
Simple! Just wipe it up with a damp cloth and ensure that it is all cleared up before lighting your fireplace.
Can i add scent or fragrance oils to the fireplace?
We only recommend using bioethanol fuel with at least 95% alcohol content with no additives. Adding fragrance oils would have an effect on the combustion of the fire which could lead to unclean combustion.
Why can't i see any fuel when i pour it into the fuel box?
The fuel box is designed to quickly absorb upto 1 ltr of fuel, preventing spillage if the fireplace is accidentally knocked. There is no need to add any more fuel. Never fill the fuel box past the "MAX" level at the base of the fuel box
